Welcome to my Blog!
My love affair with Gourmet food and Wines started in 2004, when i arrived to Puerto Vallarta, with a a suitcase full of dreams. Dreams of freedom, sun and the hope that the sea waves would bring a mysterious foreigner from faraway lands that was going to sweep me off my feet and live happily together by the sea shore. Well, that did not happen! but instead i found a bunch of friends, a lot of opportunities and a world of culinary experiences that made me fall in love with this industry.
All started with the “Festival Internacional del Tequila, Vallarta 2004″ Organized by the Committee “De Origen” a very good idea that was missing organization. They called me (and hired me) 12 days before the Festival started, so i arrived into chaos! But we had fun trying to fix it and working 18 hours each day to make it happen. Some things were a success and others were a terrible failure, but at the end, the balance was not bad for the company and for me it was great, because i met many many Tequila producers, i participated in my firsts Tequila tastings and Pairings and by the second day, i was in love with Vallarta, the Tequila and the Events industry!
A couple of months after the Tequila Festival ended, i was contacted by the Gourmet International Festival Commitee that invited me to work with them as a director a position which i kept for 2 years: Festival Gourmet International 2005 and 2006 and which opened many doors, helping me to reach my goals and meet many many wonderful people.
The commitee is formed by Chef Thierry Blouet, a man that has put Puerto Vallarta in the world´s culinary map with his talent, his charisma and his ideas; Heinz Reize, a Chef that came from Switzerland many years ago to work in the hotel industry, who is the negotiator, administrator and the “brain” of the Festival and last but not least, Chef Roland Menetrey, a gentleman in all senses of the word, that adds a special touch to the organization. This 3 chefs are my mentors, my friends and I will always thank them for getting me started in the wonderful Food and Wine industry.
And what can i say about the multiple participant restaurants of this successful event that will celebrate 15 years in this November 2009?
Vallarta boasts an impressive lists of world class restaurants that i still have the priviledge to work with many of them; I met the best chefs of Vallarta and many from around the world, i met many very dear and special friends that i keep up to now, i met many future culinary stars, i met many producers and distributors that now put their trust in me for other events and Festivals in which I get involved.
For this and for much much more: Muchas gracias Festival Gourmet!
This story has many anecdotes and needs to be continued… see you soon my friends!
